NSF REU Site: Research in Advanced Propulsion and Fuel Technology for Sustainable Transportation
The NSF REU Site at Michigan Technological University provides the opportunity for ten undergraduate students
per year to participate in interdisciplinary research related to Advanced Propulsion and Fuel Technology for
Sustainable Transportation. During a 10-week summer session, REU participants will work closely with faculty
and graduate student mentors while involved in ongoing research at the Advanced Power Systems Research Center (APSRC),
including engine and vehicle controls, renewable fuels for transportation, and the optimization of hybrid electric vehicles.
Students involved in the program will conduct research with faculty and graduate students. There will be time set aside for
seminars and social activities. Each participant will have the opportunity to present the results of their research at a
poster session at the end of the summer.
